The Heart of New Mexico
Hello, I’m John Jones and I am running for New Mexico House District 30. You can see where the District is located from the map below – four zip codes, in the Heart of the Heights. Our District is unique in many ways … almost 30,000 people live here, 20,000 are registered to vote. Our neighbors’ jobs are varied, but 16 % of us are in the administrative field, 14% are in sales jobs and 6% are helping people through their work as healthcare providers. Our district has slightly more women than men, and we have a large group of people who are college students. Surprisingly, 78% of our households do not have any children under the age of 18.
Why is all this important? Because I do my homework and pay attention to the details. Our political affiliations are diverse – 44% of our neighbors are registered Democrat, 31% are Republican, 23% are Other/Independent (not one of the major parties) and 1% Libertarian. Regardless of these numbers, our neighborhood tends to think more conservatively in general – we want safe streets and neighborhoods, we want our kids to get a GOOD education, and we want economic growth so we AND our kids can remain here. We are definitely a HARD working community, although 15% of us are 65 or over, and 18% are under the age of 18.
I have talked with my neighbors, and yours, about the state of our District and the State of New Mexico in general. I hear over and over again that our current progressive approach to government isn’t good for us. For the most part we want to make sure our kids have quality educations, to be safe while in public and at home, that we can count on staying employed, and make sure our state resources won’t be shut down because it isn’t “green” enough.
District 30 is our small community in a large city. I have lived here for decades. I raised my family here. And now I want to give my time and efforts to make NM a place that works for you, and for my granddaughter. I am an independent thinker, and typically support the underdog. As you can tell, I like to do research before I make up my mind. I listen before I act.
I am running FOR New Mexico and District 30. The current representative is Natalie Figueroa, a lady who has followed our Governor’s plan on every vote. She is a soldier in Michelle Lujan Grisham’s army. She does what she is told. So, if you are unhappy with the current state of our State, I humbly ask for your vote for District 30. Let’s Make New Mexico Work for you – for all of us.
John L. Jones
